Fundraising

Fundraising is a valuable source of income and, just as importantly, gives everyone who is involved in the Centre the opportunity to be part of the process.

Essex Community Foundation presenting a grant cheque from the Southend Fund

Our funding comes from a combination of grants from various bodies, in-house fundraising and our charity shop.

Our two annual Fayres, Christmas and Summer, proved a huge success, not only financially but as a Community project. Our year as Sainsbury’s Charity of the year concluded in May, it was a great chance to promote the Centre and raise much needed funds by bag packing. We also spent a day in Victoria Shopping Centre collecting money and handing out literature about the Centre, we had people from all aspects of the project giving a hand.

We had a very successful raffle which was run by some of the parents; the money was used towards the children’s Christmas parties.

Our Eat In Community Café which runs on a Tuesday 11.45am -1.30pm where home cooked, healthy food is served at very competitive prices.

Charity Shop

The shop is run by a team of 14 volunteers, without whom we could not operate. During the past year, the focus of the shop has been:

  • recruiting and training new volunteers
  • improving displays
  • looking at ways to increase the income, including selling on-line
  • updating the volunteer handbook and donation processes
  • working more closely with other organisations in Southend, eg Southend Adult Community College and Southend United Community & Educational Trust
  • getting support from local businesses to improve the appearance of the shelves and display cabinets.

We are constantly looking for new projects and opportunities to improve what we do.

As well as always looking for donations, we are seeking financial support to:

  • develop community links
  • pay for a new shop sign
  • internet connection
  • high quality security camera.

If you can help or know someone who might be interested, please let us know.

We are always looking for more volunteers to help with our shop and at the Centre.  If you have a few hours on your hands and would like to be part of our amazing volunteer family please contact us.

Social Websites

Trinity Family Centre has had a Facebook page for some years. It is well used by a small group of people. This is great and we would like to see its use grow.

So, this year we are looking at what has gone well, what has not worked for us and to plan improvements. More news on Facebook and the website in the next few months.

We have started selling shop items to people via Ebay and Facebook Market Place. Ebay has not been successful, however Facebook Market place is working better and finding new local customers. This is something we are looking to develop.

www.trinityfamilycentre.org

The Family Centre website is used for general information about the Centre’s programme, one-off courses that may be available and holiday programmes. We are planning to update the website with new photographs, information about the shop and new projects.

We have struggled to keep this page up-to-date and are seeking support to develop this important area of information and marketing. We are looking for experienced and reliable volunteers to help us and possible project funding to support training in this area. If you are interested, please let us know.
